The Humane Leaders Board is a passionate group of young professionals dedicated to advancing Michigan Humane’s mission. Bringing fresh talent and perspectives, members of the Humane Leaders learn about leadership and nonprofit management while contributing their skills across various aspects of the organization and highlighting the next generation of philanthropic donors. Most importantly they serve as ambassadors of our cause bringing new ideas and vibrancy to Michigan Humane’s vision of creating the most humane community in America.

A note from the Chair, Michael Wheeler:
“In early 2023, Michigan Humane launched the Humane Leaders Board—a dynamic group of established young leaders leveraging our personal and professional networks to attract new supporters to the mission. The collective represents more than just a new fundraising channel for Michigan Humane; it is a strategic move to engage Millennials and Gen Z, the largest demographic of pet owners in the country at 57%, and the next generation of Michigan Humane donors. Remarkably, in our inaugural year, we nearly doubled our fundraising goal. Looking ahead to 2024, we are excited to expand the Board with even more talented individuals to further increase our impact.”
